Barrio
I finally found some wonderful modern mexican food in Seattle!
We stopped into Barrio in Capitol Hill over the weekend (they also have a location in Bellevue) and enjoyed some fantastic dishes up at the bar. We tried their classic "Barrio Margarita" and also their "Jalapeno Margarita" - both were made from scratch with lots of attention to detail. Good margaritas are harder to find that you might think.
We shared some small plates including housemade tomato-habanero salsa and made-to-order guacamole with chips, Braised Pork Taquitos, Chipotle BBQ Pork Sliders, Pulled Chicken with escabeche slaw tacos, and Pork Loin Al Pastor with caramelized pineapple tacos. All were delicious, fresh, and well-executed. Lots of flavor and the meats were all slow-braised to perfection.
Other menu highlights include Roasted Beet and Pumpkin Seed Tacos, Shredded Pork with Mole Negro and Golden Raisin Enchiladas, Braised Short Rib filled Tamales, Ahi Tuna Crudo with Avocado, and Dungeness Crab Salad with Sweet Corn Vinaigrette.
Great Atmosphere. Attentive Service. Fantastic Food.
The RARE Holy Trilogy.
