Things I'm loving this week:
My better half has finally launched her website. So many of the wonderful events that you've seen here on LFE have been cultivated by her. Her design work is epic. See more at Wylie West Creative.
I'm obsessed with this cookbook from the gals of The Four & Twenty Blackbirds in Brooklyn, New York. There are some seriously fabulous pies in here. Recipes including Salt Pork Apple Pie, Malted Chocolate Pecan Pie, Sweet Corn Custard Pie, Salty Honey Pie, Bourbon Pear Crumble Pie, Paprika Peach Pie, & Black Bottom Oatmeal Pie. Love it all.
I had a great dinner at Farm Shop in the Brentwood Country Mart. I love the atmosphere there - the velvety blue banquettes and lighting are perfection. The Chicken Liver Mousse will blow your mind - served with whiskey-maple gelee, pickled okra, & burnt onion jam. Other menu favorites include the Octopus La Plancha, Shaved Heirloom Carrots, and Dry-Aged New York Steak for Two. Right now Monday and Tuesday nights through this winter season are the best nights for dinner - they give you retail/market pricing on their wine list which amounts to about 30% off per bottle. Score.
It's really the little things in life.
I gifted myself this White Rabbit Cookie Jar over the holidays via
Anthropologie and it was back-ordered and finally arrived yesterday! I'm going to use it as a "tea jar" for my favorite hot teas.
And I will finish on a health note: Pictured above is a jar of food-grade Diatomaceous Earth. My sister inspired us to start using it as a daily supplement and it has quickly become a normal part of our morning routine. We mix a tablespoon in with our powdered macro greens in either apple juice or a coconut water and frozen berry smoothie. Diatomaceous Earth is a powder made from the fossilized remains of diatoms and it contains a high percentage of silica (85%). It is great for your skeletal and digestive health. It helps with nutrient absorption and metal detoxification as well. We are totally loving it.
