Laura Zindel Ceramics
I was strolling through Ballard (a neighborhood in Seattle) the other day and came across a fancy little farm shop called The Field House (pictured above). This modern day "general store" is owned by the same folks that own Blackbird Candy Shoppe and Blackbird Men's Clothing and Effects (just around the corner). Inside you will find a surprising blend of hard-to-find food items (Bee Raw Honey, Rococo Chocolate), High Quality boots and Flannel (Pendleton, Red Wing, April 77), and other things like perfume and candles (Comms de Garcons, Cire Trudon).
One particular area of the store caught my eye ...up on the wall they had mounted an old wire spring mattress frame (from a camping cot or something) and on it there were beautiful ceramic plates and platters by an arstic named Laura Zindel. The drawings on her serving vessels were so simple yet so intricate. She features all sorts of bugs, birds, and insects in her work - everthing from honey bees to tarantulas...
