Luddite Dinner Plates

Sarah Simmsthings

"Luddites" : a social movement of British textile artisans in the nineteenth century who protested—often by destroying mechanized looms—against the changes produced by the Industrial Revolution, which they felt were leaving them without work and changing their entire way of life. (Thank you, Wikipedia).

These luddite dinner plates (set of four, $39) were designed to represent the simple life : rustic, unpretentious, and charming. They are 11 inches wide, dishwasher safe, and can be found on the Gretel Home website.

If you have never visited the Gretel Home site you are in for a real treat. The site was founded last year (2009) by Abbey Kellett, a British interior stylist, who loves modern, pretty sophistication. She searches for hand-made things that have an emotional element to their design...what more could you ask for?
