I am in the midst of a blog design update and thanks to Wylie West Creative, I've got a plethora of inspiration for the foundation of my LFE "face lift". Stay tuned for more on my new look soon!
BEETS. I just cannot get enough Beets. I love them roasted and served warm or cold. The Stonehouse up at San Ysidro Ranch did a fabulous warm version - served as a side dish - Roasted Garden Beets with Orange Blossom Honey and Humboldt Fog Cheese. At work and at home we 've been making tons of chilled beet salads and over the weekend I made a beet carpaccio topped with toasted pistachios, sheep's milk feta, blood orange segments, mint, dill, and wild arugula tossed in a sherry vinaigrette. I could eat this everyday.
In LA restaurant news - I went to dinner at both Scopa Italian Roots & République ("RAY-poob-leek" insert your best Zoolander voice here) this week. Scopa is nestled at the edge of Abbot Kinney on Washington Blvd in Venice and our meal was fantastic. Highlights included the cocktails, the Meat Ball Hero (outrageously good), Beets & Burrata, Chop Salad, Rigatoni with Oxtail & Dandelion Greens, and the Maccheroni with Meat Sauce. République is located on S La Brea and was really delicious too. Highlights there included their Oyster Bar, Steak Tartare, Charcoal-Grilled Octopus Salad (my absolute favorite!), Black Truffle Risotto, and the Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake (to die for). We made it through about 1/3 of the menu at both restaurants - I can't wait to go back and taste more. Both were really solid experiences - atmosphere and food were top notch.
Oh and if you haven't seen my sister's new website - make sure to check it out HERE.
I needed some new head shots last week and so we ended up taking a few pictures including some twin sister shots - see all of the details up on the Wylie West Creative blog!
