Sage & Olive Oil Popcorn

Sarah Simmsrecipes
My recent relocation from Seattle to Los Angeles means that I drove about 17 hours in my mini cooper; 14 of those hours occurred in a single day. Somewhere around hour number 8 I was growing delirious and decided to browse the Sirius radio stations in my car. I fell upon Martha Stewart's station and found myself happily entertained for the next 3 hours. I listened to Martha's test kitchen chef talk about her favorite fall snacks. One of them was popcorn.

I made this sage and olive oil popcorn tonight and absolutely loved it!

Step 1: Place sage leaves in the microwave and cook until dry and crisp. Crumble into pieces.

Step 2: Heat 3 tablespoons of good quality olive oil (I used some extra virgin that my parents made from their olive harvest last year) in a large pot with 3 or 4 popcorn kernels. As soon as those kernels pop, the pot will be heated perfectly, and you can add the rest of the kernels (1/3 cup). Wait until all the kernels are popped (makes 2 quarts) and then turn off heat and toss with crumbled sage and a sprinkle of sea salt. Drizzle with olive to finish.

Step 3: Enjoy!
