Dom Perignon Honors Warhol
It is said that in the moment that Dom Perignon first discovered Champagne, he pronounced,
"Come quickly, for I am tasting stars!"
This year, Dom Perignon (the préstige cuvée of Moet & Chandon) asked the Design Laboratory at London's Central Saint Martin's College of Art & Design to reinterpret its timeless bottle in commemoration of Andy Warhol. A unique set of three bottles (red, blue, and yellow) were created to pay homage to the artist's adventures in color.
Warhol notes in his diary, "back to the hotel to be picked up by the 2000 people - it's a club of twenty guys who get together and they're going to buy 2000 bottles of Dom Perignon which they will put in a sealed room until the year 2000". They most desirable delicacy, known to age marvelously, what else would the 2000 club lock away for 20 years? What better prize to anticipate than a secret stock of Dom Perignon?
Warhol's connection to the celebrated Champagne goes back to the 1970s, when he used to frequent Studio 54, New York’s premier club of the era, where he and his famous friends could be found drinking Dom Perignon.
