Sweetriot
I was flying Virgin America up to Seattle a few weeks back when I realized that I was going to need a little snack to hold me over during the flight. For those of you who have not recently flown on Virgin America, they do everything via individual touch screens located to the front of each seat. If you are hungry or thirsty, you simply touch your way to the food section on the screen and then add the snack and/or drink of your choice into your "shopping cart". Once you have made your selections, you swipe your debit card on the left side of the screen and a few seconds later one of the flight attendants appears with your order...pretty neat.
On this particular flight I ordered a Sweetriot unBar; it was about $3 and made from 65% all natural dark chocolate with crunchy cacao nibs. The bar was antioxidant packed, low in calories, low in sugar, dairy-free, gluten-free, and tasted amazing. I finished the small, portion-controlled bar and shoved the wrapper in my purse so that I could find out more about the product later.
2 Months pass...
Yesterday morning I pick up the business section of The Los Angeles Times and on the cover is a huge picture of Sweetriot cacao "peaces" and an article beneath it discussing new "healthy" chocolate products in the candy market. I couldn't put it off any longer, I needed to know more about Sweetriot.
Sweetriot is working to fix the world. They make all natural chocolate treats called "peaces" and work to create a more just and celebrated multicultural world for our next generation. The company was founded by Sarah Endline who grew up in a small farming township of 500 and somewhere along the way she dreamed of her own mission-based business. Sweetriot is a joyful celebration of culture, diversity, and understanding — it is the opposite of a civil riot, which is dangerous, violent, and oppressing. If you are going to sell amazing chocolate treats, why not sell them with a purpose? right?
For those of you who care...celebrity fans of the treats include the cast of Gossip Girl, Sarah Jessica Parker, Natalie Portman, Colin Farrell, Drew Barrymore, and Eva Longoria.
