Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams
Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams are created by Jeni Britten Bauer who opened her first ice cream shop in Columbus, Ohio with her husband, Charly, in 2002. They have 5 shops in Columbus and then they also ship their ice creams nationwide. Each batch is carefully tended to and completely hand crafted. Jeni learned to make artisan ice cream while working at a French patisserie and then started making her own American ice creams that are less sweet and more flavorful.
Jeni's signature flavors include:
- Salty Caramel - Initial notes of burnt sugar give way to mouth-watering saltiness. A perfect salty sweet balance.
- Gravel Road - Savory and smoky hits of almonds first, rounded out with salty notes for a satisfying finish.
- Belgian Milk Chocolate - Familiar creamy dark chocolate. Not too sweet, with a clean finish.
- Honey Vanilla Bean - Amazing cream flavor is lifted up and exalted by subtle hints of honey and vanilla.
- Queen City Cayenne - Rich chocolate reveals a wallop of back-of-the-throat spice. Finish is tingly and complex.
- Pistachio & Honey - Pure and true pistachio flavor; very lightly sweetened for a savory finish.
- Thai Chili - Complex flavors of hot, salty, savory, and sweet melt to provide a satisfying treat. Spicy finish lingers.
- Bourbon Buttered Pecan - Subtle corn mash notes come first, followed by rich and savory pecans; a charming hit of Bourbon finishes.
- Dark Chocolate - Mouth-filling, palate-gripping, intense chocolate flavor with a fudge-like texture. Pleasingly dry finish.
- Wildberry Lavender - Complex. Intense lavender with hints of exotic spices and lots of brambly berry flavors.
- Kona Stout - Unbelievably rich and dark stout with fresh-roasted Kona coffee. Refreshing.
- Mackenzie Creamery Goat Cheese with Roasted Red Cherries - Sweet-tart roasted Michigan cherries are balanced by the tang of pure goat cheese. Like a cherry cheesecake, but even better!
You can buy the ice creams directly off of her website, or from Dean and Deluca as well. This is a fantastic summer treat/gift idea...think Father's Day, birthdays, that 4th of July BBQ you are attending, a maybe just for a family picnic, etc...
