Grain Sack Table Runner

Sarah Simmsthings

Love this grain sack table runner via Pottery Barn. I found this section of Pottery Barn's website called "Vintage Finds" and it is stuff that they only sell online and in small quantities because it is actually vintage, not new stuff made to look "vintage". Right now they have these 50 to 80 year old muslin sacks that were once used by farmers in the Great Hungarian Plains for transporting grains to the mill that have been converted into table runners. They are $79 each and measurements run about 45-50" long and 18-20" wide. Each one is completely unique; some feature red or blue stripes and the initials that were once used by the farmers to identify their own sacks after milling. For those of you that are big on earth friendliness, this product is made with natural, sustainable, and Eco-certified/recycled materials.

Other neat-o stuff currently being sold: over-sized wine bottles, wooden soda crates, bulb trays, glass yogurt bottles, wooden dough bowls, old doors, antique pickling jars, soda bottles, and galvanized metal tubs...love the history that comes with owning some of these things.
