Avocado Honey

Sarah Simmsfood

While strolling through the Manhattan Beach Farmer's Market last week I found some organic avocado honey and it has officially become my favorite type of honey. Bees use the nectar of California Avocado Blossoms to create the honey which is very dark and has this ultra rich buttery flavor.

I've been putting the honey in homemade salad dressings and drizzling it over Humboldt Fog Goat Cheese on crackers..simply amazing. Look for this honey at your local farmer's market or in your local health food store (about $6 for 12 oz)

Fancy Fact: Honey is a miracle food; it never goes bad. Archaeologists found jars of honey in a 2000 year old Egyptian tomb and after opening and tasting the honey they noted that it was still delicious.
