Manhattan Beach's newest Sushi Spot Opened 2/1/2010 and although it is never a seemingly good idea to try out a new restaurant just one day after the grand opening...I did just that.

I was beyond impressed. We tried almost everything on the menu. Things you can't miss.... Miso Cod, Kobe Burger (I know what you are thinking but trust me), Albacore with Crispy Onion (the fish was amazingly fresh), Shishito Peppers, Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna (a house specialty), Okinawa Spare Rib (melts in your mouth), and Steamed Asari (short-neck clams).

If there is one thing to skip it would be the Crab and Mozzarella Cheese Tempura....awkward combination to say the least. It was creative but just a bit odd as far as texture and flavor combinations go...

Interesting Observation: On the west wall of the main dining room there is a black and white photograph of a young japanese boy just sort of posted there at an angle, frameless. Come to find out it is a picture of Master Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi (the founder of the concept) as a child.

The space is simple with white paper lanterns framing the sushi bar but it tends to get loud once the rooms fills up. My advice would be to go for an early dinner at 5:30pm if you prefer a more tranquil setting.
